पहिले पाऊल

डोंगराच्या धारेवर,
एकाकी मी उभा;
थक्क होऊन पाहतो तुला,
हे अनंत,अथांग नभा!

जणू भव्य निळ्या रंगाची ,
पृथ्वीने शाल पांघरली;
स्वर्गीय रूप घेऊनी हे,
मूर्तिमंत मयसभाच अवतरली!

पाहुनी ते गहिरे रूप,
अगम्य धुक्याने वेढले!
किती अगाध आसमंत हा?
मनास प्रश्न अनेक पडले!

अंड मी,ब्रह्मांड हा!
दोघांची बरोबरी व्हावी कशी?
विशाल अनंताकडे वाटचाल,
ह्या शून्याने करावी तरी कशी?

संभ्रमात मी पडलो असता,
सूर्याची मुले ही आली;
दाटल्या धुक्यास भेदुनी,
प्रश्नास उत्तरे दिली!

असेल भव्य ते आकाश
पण मानवाचे मन कमी नसे!
कल्पनेने भरारी घेताच,
ब्रह्मांड हे छोटे भासे!

होता स्वार पंखावर मनाच्या,
क्षितिजापलीकडे मज दिसू लागले!
ह्या शून्याने अनंताकड़े जाण्यास
मग पहिले पाऊल उचलले!
